Dining and Shopping...
| The North Shore
isn’t called "the country" for nothing. It is removed
from the melee of Honolulu and Waikiki. Still, if you crave the
hustle and density of the city, you are only an hour’s drive from
"town." Otherwise, historic and charming Haleiwa can
handle most any shopper’s needs, and has banks with ATM’s, a
post office, and a hardware store. |

Hale'iwa: a ten minute drive
from the house.
|
Groceries: A 5-minute walk
or 1-minute drive west on Kam Highway from Log Cabins brings you to
Foodland and Starbuck’s. There you can find anything you need to get you
through your week, keep you well fed and properly lubricated. In Haleiwa,
a 10-minute drive, you will find another Foodland, as well as Fujukura’s
for groceries.
| Dining
out: For a quick snack the "lunch trucks" can be found
near Sunset Beach, Ehukai Beach Park (next to Pipeline), and by
Foodland at Pupukea Road, where you can order up the traditional
Hawaiian plate lunches. For something more formal, head to Haleiwa.

Jameson's, next to the bridge in
Haleiwa.
|
| Try Haleiwa Joe’s
or Jameson’s for steak and seafood (higher end), Cholo’s for
Mexican, Pizza Bob’s for a slice, Kua Aina for a healthy sandwich
or sumptuous burger, and Matsumoto Shave Ice for Hawaii’s famous
colorful and sugary desert.
Shopping: Head to

first, then grind Cholo's mexican food in the shade. |
